John Bowersox Master John Bowersox, started his Martial Art career at the age of 9 under Sensi Jeff Glen Bostick, studying the art of Tae Kwon Do Moo Duk Kwon. Even at the young age of 9 John excelled as one of Sensi Bostick's top students, being invited to compete on the 1989 junior Olympic Team. At the age  of 23, John enrolled in American Freestyle Karate under Master David Clements. Within the first year  Master Clements promoted John to the SWAT Team where he began teaching both children and adult classes. John continued to teach part-time for 4 years until being promoted to full-time Instructor at American Freestyle Karate. In 2003, John’s dreams become reality when he purchased the dojo from Master Clements and he was also awarded American Freestyle Karate’s Instructor of the Year. In 2007 he achieved Master Level and in 2008 he was inducted into the American Freestyle Karate Hall of Fame. Master John Bowersox currently holds rank of 5th Degree Master Black Belt in American Freestyle Karate, and a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Shorin-Shorei Shotokan Karate.
Bethany Labrecque  Miss Labrecque began training in American Freestyle Karate in 2001. Her dedication showed at a young age always excelling and doing her best at each level. As part of the demo team she represented the dojo at public events as a purple belt, and began assisting classes as a red belt. Miss Labrecque competed through the VKA in 2007 placing in many tournaments and winning a state title for sparring. She currently holds the rank of 3rd degree black belt in American Freestyle Karate and 1st degree in Shorin-Shorei Shotakan Karate. In addition to her work and training at American Freestyle Karate, Miss Labrecque studies Chemistry at Bridgewater College. She also enjoys reading and snowboarding.
Olivia Arey  Miss Arey started training in American Freestyle Karate under Master John Bowersox in 2005. Along with teaching many of the martial art classes she currently leads our Screaming Eagle Program developing our youngest students. Miss Arey attends Riverheads High School and holds rank of 2nd degree black belt in American Freestyle Karate and 1st degree in Shorin-Shorei Shotokan Karate. She won two state titles in 2008 for weapons and sparring. Her dedication to personal development shows outside of karate with her involvement with her church youth group and participation in FCCLA at her high school.
Rob Powell Mr. Rob Powell has been training in American Freestyle Karate for over 10 years. He received his black belt from Master John Bowersox in 2005. His dedication to martial arts still continues and he currently holds the rank of 3rd degree black belt in American Freestyle Karate. In 2003 Mr. Powell began his training in Shotokan Karate and he currently holds rank of 1st degree black belt in Shorin-Shorei Shotokan Karate. His attention to detail has made him a true asset to our school helping develop our students to their fullest potential. Along with spending time with his family, Mr. Powell enjoys hunting and fishing. 
Philip Kennedy  Mr. Kennedy began training at American Freestyle Karate in 2009 under Master John Bowersox, though his interest in martial arts began as a teenager briefly studying Tae Kwon Do with Grand Master Dong in  Richmond, Virginia. Along with studying American Freestyle Karate he also studies traditional Shotokan Karate and holds a 2011 State Forms Title with the VKA. He currently leads our kickboxing program and holds rank of Pre-Black Belt in American Freestyle Karate and Green Belt in Shorin-Shorei Shotokan Karate. Mr. Kennedy enjoys spending time with his wife and son, both who are students at American Freestyle Karate, and enjoys boating and fishing.
